I whip web sites into submission, but I'm nice to everyone else.
The Pacific Southwest Research Station, part of the Center for Urban Forest Research, has its office on the UC Davis campus. They came to Advantrics looking for a much-needed redesign that would fit the guidelines and template provided by the USDA Forest Service, but with their own features and flair.
I kept to the curves and layout of the USDA Forest Service template, but added rollover sections for their main areas of research and used graphics and colorful headings to make the site more interesting. The site was an interesting exercise in keeping within government guidelines and balancing the standard Forest Service "look" with a unique feel to the site.
I worked on the design, graphics, and HTML layout of the site, while the rest of the team helped with the content and database-driven functionality.
More recently, when they wanted a color change to something closer to their parent site, it only took a couple of hours to modify the images and style sheet and apply the changes.
